RIZ RISHI SAHU

I am an upcoming filmmaker currently developing my practice through documenting creative processes. My work focuses on how abstract ideas become tangible objects how a concept can transform into something tangible.

Born and raised in Santiniketan, West Bengal, home to Tagore’s university town, Growing up in a place where art and nature intersect has shaped my perspective on documenting creative spaces. My artistic approach stems from being raised within an art ecosystem: my father is a practicing artist and a professor in the department of painting at Kala Bhavana, and my mother is the Director of Emami Art Kolkata. This upbringing provided me with early exposure to creative processes, and perhaps influenced the way I approach filmmaking.

I view creative work not just as a finished product but as a process worth documenting. Observing artists in their studios from childhood taught me to pay attention to space, time, and environment, and to focus on the human elements of artistic creation—the moments of decision, technical challenges, and the intersection of intention and execution.
